Resumo
Introdução: As fraturas do úmero podem ser proximais, diafisárias ou distais, variando conforme o mecanismo do trauma e a faixa etária. São frequentes em idosos e podem causar dor, limitação funcional e complicações. O tratamento pode ser conservador ou cirúrgico, dependendo da gravidade e das condições do paciente.
Objetivo: Por meio de uma revisão da literatura, comparar os resultados do manejo conservador e cirúrgico das fraturas do úmero.
Método: A busca pelos trabalhos foi realizada na base de dados PubMed, e incluiu artigos publicados nos últimos cinco anos, com base na seguinte estratégia de busca: humer[title] AND (conservative[title] AND surg*[title]).
Resultados: Inicialmente identificados 13 estudos. Após a triagem de títulos e resumos, 6 foram excluídos por não abordarem diretamente o manejo das fraturas do úmero ou por serem cartas ao editor, restando 7 artigos que constituíram a amostra da presente revisão.
Conclusão: O tratamento das fraturas do úmero deve ser individualizado, considerando o tipo de fratura, a idade e o perfil funcional do paciente. Embora o tratamento conservador apresente bons resultados na maioria dos casos, a cirurgia pode ser indicada em situações específicas, mas envolve maior risco de complicações. Por fim, ainda são necessários estudos mais robustos para definir a melhor abordagem em cada contexto.
