Submission Preparation Checklist

Submission Preparation Checklist As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

0.1 Article Processing Charge (APC)

The Review of Artificial Intelligence in Education does not charge any submission, evaluation, or publication fees. All manuscripts accepted for publication are processed free of charge, reaffirming the journal’s commitment to open access, the broad dissemination of scientific knowledge, and the promotion of high-quality research.

To ensure efficiency, transparency, and quality throughout the editorial workflow, authors are required to strictly follow the journal’s guidelines and use the official submission template available on the journal’s website. Proper adherence to the established standards significantly facilitates editorial management, accelerates the review process, and ensures consistency across published articles.

Each article may include up to five (5) authors. No fees are charged at any stage of the editorial process, from initial submission to final publication.

1. Originality and Exclusivity

Manuscripts submitted to the Review of Artificial Intelligence in Education must be original and unpublished and may not be under review by another publication. Papers previously presented in scientific conference proceedings are acceptable, provided they include substantial revisions and new scientific contributions beyond the original version. If the paper has been previously made available online as a working paper, discussion text, or similar format, the author must remove it from circulation during the review process and ensure that, if accepted, publication occurs exclusively in this journal.

2. Formatting and Style

The submitted work must comply with the Author Guidelines available on the About the Journal page, following the required formatting, style, and bibliographic standards.

3. Authorship

A maximum of five (5) authors is allowed per article, listed in order of their individual contribution to the manuscript.

4. File Format and Size

The submission file must be in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx) and should not exceed 2 MB in size.

5. Language and Responsibility

When submitting the article, the author(s) acknowledge that:

a) The manuscript must be grammatically correct, and authors are responsible for ensuring professional language review before submission. Reviewers will not correct grammar or spelling.
b) The article, once accepted, must fully comply with the linguistic and stylistic norms of English (U.S.), Portuguese, or Spanish, depending on the language of submission.
c) The opinions and positions expressed in the published articles are the sole responsibility of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Editor or the Editorial Board.

6. Letter to the Editor

Authors must submit a Letter to the Editor (maximum one page) as a Supplementary Document, explaining the scientific contribution and originality of the paper. If the manuscript is derived from a conference presentation, this must be stated in the letter, along with a summary of the main improvements made since the previous version.

7. Originality Declaration

All manuscripts submitted and published in the Review of Artificial Intelligence in Education must be original and not previously published in any other journal, book, or academic manuscript.

8. Peer Review Commitment

Upon submission, all authors and co-authors agree to act as peer reviewers for up to two (2) manuscripts submitted by other authors, following the Double Blind Review system.

9. Structured Abstract and Template

Each submission must include a structured abstract (maximum 250 words) in the same language as the manuscript, following the journal’s standard model. Authors must be listed in order of contribution to the research. The official manuscript template is available at: JKI journal .

AI Pedagogy & Teaching

This section publishes original research, theoretical studies, reviews, and applied contributions addressing the pedagogical use of artificial intelligence in educational contexts. Topics may include AI-supported teaching practices, instructional design, teacher education, classroom integration, learning strategies, assessment, and the development of innovative pedagogical approaches involving artificial intelligence.

Generative AI & Academic Writing

This section publishes research and scholarly discussions on the use of generative artificial intelligence in academic writing, authorship, scholarly communication, and knowledge production. Topics may include AI-assisted writing, authorship and attribution, academic integrity, personal voice, plagiarism, citation practices, ethical use of generative AI, and the implications of large language models for academic and scientific writing.

AI Literacy & Inclusion

This section publishes research focused on artificial intelligence literacy, digital inclusion, educational equity, accessibility, and human-centered learning. It welcomes studies examining the development of AI competencies, inclusive educational technologies, accessibility for learners with disabilities, digital inequalities, underserved communities, and initiatives designed to promote equitable and responsible participation in AI-mediated educational environments.

AI in Higher Education

This section publishes research examining the adoption, integration, and impact of artificial intelligence in higher education. Topics may include student and faculty acceptance of AI, institutional readiness, digital transformation, AI-supported learning and assessment, academic management, educational innovation, professional development, and the social, organizational, and pedagogical implications of artificial intelligence in universities and other higher education institutions

AI Governance & Society

This section publishes interdisciplinary research on the governance, regulation, ethics, rights, and societal implications of artificial intelligence in education and related contexts. Topics may include AI governance, cybersecurity, data protection, privacy, student rights, algorithmic accountability, media discourse, institutional policies, ethical frameworks, digital autonomy, and the broader social consequences of artificial intelligence.

Tutorial - AI

The Tutorial Section of our journal accepts submissions in a tutorial format, focusing on practical and educational topics related to areas such as artificial intelligence, corporate governance, and applied social sciences. These articles should provide step-by-step guidance or practical insights to help readers apply theoretical concepts in real-world or practical contexts.

Submission Guidelines:

Format: Tutorial articles up to 10 pages, including figures, tables, and references.
Title: The title should be concise, clear, and reflective of the tutorial’s content.
Structured Abstract: Submit a structured abstract of up to 250 words, highlighting the tutorial’s objective, the methods or tools used, the main steps covered, and the target audience.

Article Structure:

Introduction: Present the tutorial's purpose and the context in which it will be applied.
Step-by-Step Process: Provide a clear and detailed description of the steps required to implement or execute the tutorial.
Discussion and Practical Application: Discuss possible practical applications and the benefits of following the tutorial.
Conclusion: Summarize the key points and emphasize the practical value of the tutorial.

Submissions must adhere to the journal's formatting guidelines, and all tutorials will undergo peer review to ensure they provide relevant and high-quality educational content for our readers.
